This blog is named for a poem that I encountered in high school and that I have always remembered.  Although the Christmas imagery does not mean a great deal to me, the idea of facing a great distance certainly does.  I have crossed the distance presented by my PhD, my postdocs, and now face the glacial distance of my pre-tenure period.  I would not object to a bit of guidance during that time.

“A Christmas Tree” by William Burford

If you are

A love compassionate,

You will walk with us this year.

We face a glacial distance, who are here

At your feet.
